Trying to get this posted before I forget :p
Last weekend was the qualifying weekend at the ATP500 Rotterdam :) I went both days and I'll be there tomorrow as well for main draw action.

Like last year, I was there with [livejournal.com profile] triplebagel. She'll have better pictures than me! My little camera was not amused by the indoor lighting and moving objects :p

I found [livejournal.com profile] triplebagel at our usual spot at practice court 3 (where some random players were practicing, but I didn't recognise them). We chatted and relaxed for a bit and decided who we wanted to see. First thing on the menu was catching a bit of Bachinger v Haider-Maurer.

HM had quite the temper and liked throwing his racquets about. Luckily, Bachinger won :) From our vantage point we could also keep an eye on the practice court next door, so we left the match when we spotted Tursunov arriving to practice. I didn't manage to get any decent pictures, tho.
After Tursunov, Ito came on to practice a bit.

Besides court 3, there are two outer practice courts (also used for junior matches and wheelchair), that were mostly being used by the doubles guys. These courts are fab, cos you can sit along the sides and get a really good view.

After having stretched my legs, it was back to practice court 3 to watch Stakhovsky and Chiudinelli.

Followed by Gulbis. It took me forever to be sure it was him. He came dressed for Artic winter with beanie hat and scarf on. And he was first practicing on the far side from the stands. Only after seeing him through the zoom of Triple's camera I was sure it was him :p (btw, it's sometimes embarrassingly difficult to identify players. Some look quite different from what you're used to watching tiny streams, or ATP profile pics)

I made another quick visit to see a few of the doubles guys.

We decided to move to court 1 to watch the second set of Tursunov v Huta Galung.

After the match, I had intended to stay put for Marco v Kamke, but Triple overheard someone mentioning Delpo was practicing, so I made a beeline back out to the practice court ;)

Delpo didn't practice as much as sit on his chair most of the time. He was looking rather down :/

After he'd finished, Gulbis was just about to finish up his first set against Stakhovsky on court 2, so I decided to move over there to catch the second set.

This was Gulbis' first MP on Sergiy's serve, which Sergiy saved, so nothing much happened…

Sergiy was getting increasing frustrated during the match, complaining at length about perceived bad calls to the Ump and directly to the linesperson. Gulbis made relative quick work of it.

Meanwhile Marco was taking forever in his match with Kamke, so I had plenty of time to rejoin Triple and a big Marco fan who had joined us during the day. Sadly Marco couldn't do it in the end, tho he got close.

It was already quite late by now, but we decided to make a last quick round of the practice courts to see if anyone interesting was still about. And there was Marcel! Tho, without Marc :(

After him Tomic came on. He had a whole entourage with him, including a very good-looking hitting partner ;) The others turned out to be a bunch of Yonex people. Tomic was trying out different racquets and discussing them.

By now it was really late and I had eaten nothing all day but a cheese sandwich and one of Triple's mandarins. I was hungry and tired so decided to call it a day…
