A cold and dreary morning in Barcelona :(

On top of that, the internet in the hotel is still down and apparently won't be repaired anytime soon because of Easter. Those pesky religiously holidays, combined with being outside of the city center, also means options in WiFi cafes are limited. Obviously, this sucks.

However, we're soldering on ;) There wasn't much on the schedule today so I had time in the morning to make a trek to a WiFi-able cafe in the morning before going to the venue.

For a qualie day, it was surprisingly busy. They do love their tennis here. Easter weekend helped, no doubt.

One half of CC was pretty much filled up, sponsor boxes included. The other half was mostly empty. I had some problems finding my seat, the volunteer stewards being of no help. It doesn't help being in 'row #3', when rows start at #5...
Eventually I was just pointed to a certain seat, which was pretty good, right above the corporate boxes, so I was happy :)

First up was Thiem v Fucsovics.

Thiem being another bandwagon holder, Fucsovics I had never heard of before.
Thiem has a flashy game with some highlight reel shots. It did include its share of UEs as well. Fucs was... kinda boring. They both had nice pts at the net though, so that was good to see. Fusc did some classic stalling tactics after getting broken for the first set, taking an extended bathroom break, *then* changing his shirt. It was pretty damn chilly, so Thiem was cooling down fast.
Didn't work in the end.

After that it was Marc v some other unknown: Checa-Calvo.

Again, Marc was way better at defence and patiently waiting for Checa to hit an error out of pure annoyance. Marc was also doing *a lot* of slicing. Checa's growing frustrations was clearly evident. It didn't help him that the crowd were clearly in Marc's favour. They really like Marc here :)
There was an MTO for blisters (I think?) for Marc halfway through, but he didn't seem particularly bothered by it, before or after.

Video of the MP (a bit poor quality, alas):

Center Court finished for the day, it was turned over for practice and there was Robredo again! This time practicing hitting ball cans with his serve. Took him long enough to finally hit one, to the applause of the remaining crowd ;)

No OoP yet for tomorrow, so we'll see. Have to get up early to hunt for internet anyway #sigh

Out of curiosity, were either of the Granollerses present at either of Marc's matches? (If not I shall be having srs words with them :p)

Not that I could tell. Though I couldn't really see the boxes right underneath me, so they *might* have been hiding in there.
Feli, of course, never hides ;)
